LAYERS AND LEVELS
A CHALLENGEThis garden landscaping project in Walton on the Hill was another huge project in terms of the size of the plot, which was close to 2000m2.
The space was also extremely challenging as it was on several levels. We were tasked with designing the new terraces, connecting pathways and balcony decking with a clever use of pathways and steps, whilst not deterring from the unique countryside views.
BUILD
THE
The clients had recently re-built the house to a very high, contemporary specification and this theme was to be continued throughout the garden.
We recommended using Beige Sawn Sandstone for the terraces and pathways which was pre sealed and grouted with a charcoal grout for contrast. We constructed 3 terraces and a staircase to lead from the main terrace down to the driveway, which also had glass panel balustrade to finish the sleek contemporary theme.
We then installed a beautiful balcony deck using Millboard’s enhanced grain deck boards. This helped break up the material palette and also matched the interior kitchen floor. Another challenge faced was the front door entrance. Due to the design of the property, the grand front door was actually on the side of the property and was 1m higher than the driveway.
We created a bespoke staircase using bullnosed step treads with a matching paved entrance area with Contemporary planting on either side. Our clients wanted an entrance that said ‘wow’ and that was certainly achieved here. We also had to install 500m2 of new gravel driveways with edging to match the paving and then installed a 40m2 paved driveway entrance to retain the gravel.
Lastly, we installed 600m2 of new lawns and planted using formal contemporary planting, which complemented the project beautifully. The project was delivered on time, on budget and our clients were extremely happy with their new gardens.
