A case study: The climbing pergola

This was a hugely satisfying project. We were asked to construct a truly unique and beautiful pergola for previous clients of ours. The only catch was that our clients were both climbers and wanted the new pergola to be extremely sturdy so that they could use it to practice climbing. We recommended using Oak, not only for its strength, but for its beauty. We used 200 x 200mm posts for the uprights and 200 x 50mm for the overhead beams.

The posts were extremely heavy and required 4 men to position them into the ground. Once the eight posts were installed to millimetre precision, the overhead beams were to be installed with end details. This sounds like a simple enough job, but the way that the Oak was seamlessly fixed and joined is a testament to the level of skill that we have as a company. We are landscapers who possess the precision that a joiner would be proud of!
